Reports of the Philadelphia Phillies willingness to sell this summer have gone back and fourth. If the team does make some of it's players available in trade, closer Jonathan Papelbon is expected to be one of the more significant pieces shopped. According to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe, the Phillies believe there are at least three teams that may have some level of interest in Papelbon; the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. has come out and said that he's not willing to blow up the team. While Amaro could be more hesitant to move someone like Cliff Lee, Cafardo believes Papelbon could provide Philadelphia with younger players without blowing up the roster. The Tigers have been continually tied to Papelbon, as they have dealt with closer issues throughout the season. Jose Valverde has struggled of late, and Papelbon could be the final piece the team needs in their pursuit of a World Series title. The Cardinals and Red Sox have both dealt with injuries when it's come to their closer. Joel Hanrahan and Jason Motte were lost for the season, but Andrew Bailey and Edward Mujica have stepped up nicely in their absence. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

Weekend Recap: Have you seen enough?

Before the Phillies embarked on a 10-game road trip I laid out my expectations if I was to continue to believe this team might be capable of turning things around enough to make a postseason push something worth considering possible. As I reiterated last Monday, that was for the Phillies to pick up no fewer than six wins with stops in Milwaukee, Minnesota and Colorado. Seven wins...

Fun With Google — Or, a Retelling of a Potential Nightmare

Most of these blog ideas start off with a weird tangent.  In today’s case, Roobs made an off-hand statement that Cubs fans seem to prefer Ruben Amaro Jr. as their general manager.  Amaro is now the GM of the Philadelphia Phillies, who as recently as a couple years ago were perennial contenders with a strong core that has since faded.  The core of that team was built by Pat Gillick...
