The Phillies loss to the Reds last night, another wasted effort from the starting pitching. Over the last 4 games, starters have allowed only 5 runs and 16 hits over 27 innings. The offense which has largely been absent over those four games accounts for why the Phillies are 2-2, wasting some good pitching.
Last nights “routine” day off for Chase Utley was this the wrong day? Considering how anemic the offense has been, taking his .400 batting average against Arroyo out of the lineup, a strange move at best. Utley did though provide ALL of the offense for the Phillies, hitting an eighth inning 2-run home run.
The Phillies who send Kyle Kendrick to the mound today will try to get their record back to .500. The offense, short of just hitting the baseball needs some tweaking starting with Revere. Putting Rollins back at the top just might be Manuel’s first move to spark a dead offense.Similar Posts:
