Phillies centerfielder Ben Revere robbed, absolutely robbed Reds 3rd baseman Todd Frazier in the bottom of the second inning tonight, going all out on a lined shot to center before going full extension to steal extra bases with an amazing, early candidate for play-of-the-year type grab. Revere then has the presence of mind to fire the ball back into first and double up Jay Bruce, who, like most people, thought that there was no way the speedy Philly outfielder was making that catch.Turns out he was wrong, and Bruce, who had rounded second and was halfway to third, hightailed it back to first, but it was all for naught, as he was out by a country mile. We’re only 12 games into the 2013 Major League season, but every outfielder will be hard pressed to come up with a better catch than the jaw dropping snag Ben Revere pulled off. Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Ben Revere had a very memorable night on Monday. For starters, he made one of the most spectacular catches we will see all season in the second inning of a loss to the Cincinnati Reds. As you can see from the video above, Revere went full extension on a line drive to center field to rob extra bases and double...
This is easily the defensive play of the year so far in this young MLB season. Watch as Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Ben Revere gets a great jump on a well-hit ball and makes a spectacular catch in the outfield. Thanks to Blacksportsonline for the footage.
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Ben Revere made perhaps the best catch so far of the early MLB season on Monday during the second inning of the team’s game against the Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ball Park.
With the game scoreless, Revere traced a liner — although he appears to misjudge the trajectory of the ball for a moment — off the bat of Cincinnati third baseman...
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired Ben Revere from the Minnesota Twins in part because of his amazing defense. On Monday night against the Reds, Revere made an amazing diving catch *going towards the wall* to rob Todd Frazier of what would have been a run-scoring double or triple and keep the Reds off the board. Revere even was able to fire the ball into the infield and double Jay...
On any given day this play would be the featured play on highlight reels everywhere. However, with the message that outfielder Ben Revere wrote on his glove to the people of Boston it becomes more than just your average highlight.

Best catch of 2013 thus far.. hands down..
Phillies center fielder Ben Revere took away at least a double from Reds’ Ryan Hanigan during the 3rd inning of Monday’s game with this amazing full-extension catch. Catch-of-the-year so far in the MLB.

On Jackie Robinson day how fitting is it that the play of the day came from one of the few African American players in the game? Easily the defensive play of the year so far.
Totally makes you forget that the Phillies actually lost this game

There are some days when it just seems as though baseball does not matter much. Yesterday was one of those days. Hours after multiple explosions went off near the finish line at the Boston Marathon, killing three (and rising in all likelihood) and inuring many more, the Phillies opened a three-game road series in Cincinnati, hoping to build off...
The Phillies might have lost a tough game to the Reds after getting great starting pitching from Cliff Lee but the biggest story from this Reds vs Phillies game was the catch by Ben Revere. In the bottom of the 2nd inning with a man on 1st and no outs, Todd Frazier hit a bullet to dead center, and Revere ran it down and made an unbelievable full extension diving catch towards...
First, we would to give all of our thoughts and prayers to the victims in Boston. We are a sports blog, but the events that happened on Monday is more important than any sporting event. Again our thoughts and prayers are with Boston, and anyone involved.
