Found August 01, 2013 on College Spun:
There’s nothing better in the summer than a nice day at the ballpark. Yesterday, John Calipari checked in to watch the Pirates. Earlier this offseason, Jerry Kill took in the Twins, and Bo Pelini was a staple at the College World Series in Omaha. Basically, college football and basketball coaches love baseball too. Yesterday, Duke’s David Cutcliffe attended the Rockies-Braves game and had a chance to get on the field. He took pictured with baseball legend Todd Helton, as well as Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez — check it out: #Duke HC @DavidCutcliffe at @Braves vs. @Rockies — with Todd Helton & Fredi Gonzalez + interview with Root TV. — Duke Football (@Duke_FB) July 31, 2013 Being a college coach earns a guy some pretty cool perks. Hopefully Cutcliffe enjoyed his night, because it’s back to the grind of college football season very soon.

Colorado Rockies attendance affected by the humidor?

A recent post on the Denver Post’s “On The Rox” blog addressed a question asked during The Press Box, a Rockies radio program. Host Peter Burns bounced the question of unplugging the humidor off his guests. Burns suggested that a return of “high scores and home run bombs” would drive more fans to Rockies games. For those who aren’t familiar with the humidor, it is...

Walt Weiss and Colorado Rockies sleep through four game sweep in Atlanta

Was Walt Weiss sleeping in the dugout? If the Colorado Rockies brass tries to say that the team hasn't given up, all one needs to do is point to the 2nd inning of the Rockies embarrassing 11-2 loss to the Braves on Thursday night.Following a called third strike on the Rockies All-Star shortstop to end the inning, Tulo turned to home plate umpire Marvin Hudson and told him what...

Jeff Francis optioned, Michael Cuddyer misses game for family reasons

Chad Bettis’ debut created a pair or roster casualties. Jeff Francis was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs to make room on the 25-man roster and Josh Sullivan an oft-injured Triple-A reliever was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Francis pitched once out of the bullpen in his new role allowing two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings on 45 pitches. The...

Downward spiral continues as Colorado Rockies dismantled by Atlanta Braves--again

Dan O'Dowd is out of ideas for the Rockies. What is left to be said? The only question that remains to be asked is, do the Colorado Rockies actually have to play out the final two months of their season? The unfortunate answer to that is "yes."Sorry to be so negative about a team that is just eight games back of first place in the National League West. Maybe there are...

X-rays showed no further damage, however. #Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez is not going on the DL. Here's why: #repost — Troy Renck (@TroyRenck) August 1, 2013 “I am not going on...

Colorado Rockies see the difference between a pretender and a contender in Atlanta

Freddie Freeman is leading a team that knows how to win. If the Colorado Rockies think they are contenders, they haven't been looking across at the other dugout the last two nights. The Atlanta Braves showed why they are a team that is winning their division by a robust 10 games. The Braves are a team that pitches well, they hit well, and they lead the league in come-from-behind...

Minor McCann and Freeman Big as Braves Paste Rockies

The Atlanta Braves had a 6+ run inning for the 3rd straight night against the Rockies on Wednesday.  The hot offense led the Braves to a 9-0 win, and gives them a chance to sweep the 4-game series tomorrow night.  The win for the Braves was their 6th straight. Enough cannot be said about Braves starter, Mike Minor.  Over the course of 2013, Minor has become the unofficial ace...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Colorado Rockies – Game 109

Sometimes you lose games. Sometimes you lose games in pretty embarrassing fashion. Last night was one of those nights. The type of night that really takes some unbelievable stats and pushes them to the mean. That’s good. Might as well get that crap all done at once instead of bleeding slowly back to the mean…

The Braves have simply teed off on the Rockies, with Wednesday's 9-0 victory extending their winning streak to six overall and the lead in the National League East to 11 games.
