When news breaks in Detroit Tigers camp of the magnitude of the Jose Iglesias injury, all hell breaks loose. Every Tigers writer with an audience has been taking to the web and prognosticating what GM Dave Dombrowski should do. But as we all know too well by now, Dombrowski will never tip his hand.
Now it’s my turn.
Here is the list of names that have already popped up in one form...
Miguel Cabrera is one of the first MLB athletes to come out as a spokesperson for PlayStation’s ‘MLB 14 The Show,’ and we couldn’t be more pleased about it. The ‘Baseball is Better’ campaign looks to be one of the better ones we have seen in some time, especially given the fact that their first video includes Cabrera riding an old exercise bike wearing an old scuba...
Who should be the Tigers' Opening Day shortstop?
President and general manager Dave Dombrowski told reporters in Lakeland Thursday that they would "continue to look at internal candidates" now that they know for certain that Jose Iglesias will miss four to six months because of stress fractures in both legs.
While that doesn't mean the Tigers won't look outside...
It has been a bad week for the Detroit Tigers. Already down a projected starter in LF Andy Dirks (even if only a platoon guy), the roster, thin even at full strength, started to get flexed. Now the Tigers face the very real possibility that Jose Iglesias will not play at all in 2014, and […]
With Andy Dirks out of the lineup for the next couple of months, the Detroit Tigers find themselves searching for someone to pair with Rajai Davis in a left-field platoon. Could Tyler Collins be the answer?
He continued to state his case for a shot with a two-run homer on Tuesday against the New York Mets.

Playing off its close proximity to its neighbor to the south, the Detroit Tigers will be serving up a Canadian/American concoction – a poutine hot dog (pictured above) – at Comerica Park this season.
Sportservice, the concessionaire at the ballpark, is showing more guts in helping baseball fans expand their guts. To me, the poutine dog looks like someone emptied...
Bad news for Detroit Tigers fans and pitchers alike, as the slick fielding Jose Iglesias, who was acquired last summer in a trade with the Boston Red Sox, will miss the next four-to-six months minimum due to bilateral tibial stress fractures in both of his shins.
CT scans that were ordered by Dr. Thomas Clanton showed the unknown fractures that were originally believed to be shin...
From Andrew Simon and Jason Beck of MLB.com: Detroit Tigers’ Jose Iglesias has been diagnosed with stress fractures in both legs, an ailment that is expected to leave the Tigers without their slick-fielding shortstop for at least five months.
The Tigers confirmed the news on Thursday, a few days after Iglesias first revealed the news to reporters.
Jose Iglesias is set to be...
Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski
Chris Iott, of MLive.com quoted Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski as saying:
“I’ve had a lot of clubs reach out to me to offer guys who can catch the ball, but we feel we have somebody that can catch the ball.
With this being the case, I don’t anticipate the Tigers will make a move before opening day to acquire a shortstop, but will...
The Detroit Tigers will be without shortstop Jose Iglesias for at least “four to six months”, if not longer said the team’s general manager Dave Dombrowski. It was diagnosed earlier this week that Iglesias has bilateral tibial stress fractures in both legs. “The reality is that he will be out basically for at least five […]
(MLB.com Screenshot)Former Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias revealed that he has stress fractures in both of his shins—and it could result in him missing the entire 2014 season. Boston traded Iglesias last July in a three-way deal that netted Jake Peavy. Said Iglesias, "It's bad news for me and bad news for the team as well." Asked if he intends to return this year...
VIERA, Fla. (AP) -- Had this been the regular season, Stephen Strasburg vs. Max Scherzer would have been a tantalizing matchup.
Strasburg allowed three hits and struck out five in five scoreless innings Thursday, helping the Washington Nationals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-1.
Preparing for Washington's opener at the New York Mets on March 31, Strasburg has given up one earned run...

We'll take the one on the right, please and thanks.
2013 was a year to forget for Danny Worth, battling disappointment, injury, and ultimately being removed from the Tigers’ 40-man roster after a less than stellar campaign. But he came to spring camp motivated, and after a strong showing and an injury to Jose Iglesias, has put himself in position to be the club’s Opening Day starting shortstop.
