Felix Pie was nowhere to be found
Two pie faced men saved the day for the Orioles yesterday in the series finale against the Mariners. For the second time this season, the Orioles actually won a series.
In perhaps the most interesting half hour of baseball played in Baltimore this season, the Orioles stormed back from a 5-1 defecit to beat the Mariners 6-5.
In the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded, Luke Scott drove a ball to the edge of the left-center field wall. A home run call was questionable because a fan practically smacked the ball out of the left fielders glove. Scott stopped jogging mid way to second base because he wasn’t sure what the call actually was.
My hat goes off to the fans in the outfield who did whatever it took to keep Michael Saunders from robbing Luke of that HR. When this are going as bad as they are, any little bit helps (and that dude’s finger looked MESSED UP, if you watch the replay in slow mo).
This recent addition pie face did his help with the bat and hit a solo home run out to the flag deck earlier in the game. He not only was affective swinging the bat but he also ended the game with his first outfield assist as an Oriole.
With the tying run on second, Ichiro singled to left field as the ball rolled to Patterson. With Josh Wilson rounding third, Patterson gunned the ball to Matt Wieters at home. Patterson’s throw was wide to the right side of the plate but Wieters made a tremendous play to tag out the runner and end the ball game.
Did someone say…..WINNING STREAK?!?!?!?!?
