PLAYERS: AJ Burnett
TEAMS: New York Yankees

MLB Trade Rumors had a post about A.J. Burnett, who is still looking for work in 2012. The post lists the Pirates as a possible fit for Burnett. The iffy thing here is that Burnett has 10 teams listed in his no trade clause that he won't play for, and I would be pretty surprised if the Pirates weren't on that list.It is pretty clear that the Pirates want to add another starter, so if Burnett has any desire to come play in Pittsburgh (which he could considering the National League is a nicer place for pitchers than the American League), this could happen. It's a long shot though.Clipped from: www.mlbtraderumors.com (share this clip)

Can the Yankees really trade A.J. Burnett??

The rumors over the last couple of days are heating up for the Yankees.  The talk is that they are shopping A.J. Burnett and the Pittsburgh Pirates may be interested.  Burnett is owed 33 million over the last two years.  The Yankees know they would need to eat anywhere from 25-27 million at least.  The Yankees the reports are stating are asking for Garrett Jones an outfielder...

Olney: Yanks want Jones for Burnett

More news on the A.J. Burnett front. Apparently there are some legs to this story and the speculation that the Yankees want Garrett Jones appears to be true. My feelings on a Jones for Burnett and cash trade are very mixed. With as mediocre as Jones is, the deal, in theory makes sense. However, outside of Jones, the Pirates outlook at first base looks quite bad. Burnett would help...

New York Yankees hot stove: Rosenthal please stop stirring the Burnett pot

AJ Burnett on the bump at Yankee Stadium. I am kicking myself for presuming that the media would go dormant on trade rumors surrounding New York Yankees pitcher AJ Burnett. As usual the spark came via FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal who reported that the Pittsburgh Pirates might land Burnett. He also wrote that the Yankees were willing to eat most of the $33 million Burnett is still owed...

Rumor: Yankees Still Shopping A.J. Burnett

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the New York Yankees are still shopping RHP A.J. Burnett but they are doing it quietly. The deal would likely be a salary dump to expand their budget. The Yankees are looking to sign a Johnny Damon, Raul Ibanez or Hideki Matsui type player. However, the Yankees would probably have to eat more of Burnett’s salary. They are only...

A.J. Burnett Rumors: Friday

Here is the latest on the A.J. Burnett rumors: -Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the two sides continue discussing a possible deal that would send Burnett to the Pirates. Heyman reports that the Yankees are willing to pay a substantial portion of Burnett’s remaining salary, but that the two sides are still a few million apart. Heyman mentions that the Yankees first offered...

Pirates interested in A.J. Burnett?

We heard some rumblings about the Pirates possibly inquiring on starter A.J. Burnett earlier this offseason, but it did not amount to much. Today, Ken Rosenthal wrote that the Pirates are believed to be one team that is considering a trade for the highly paid veteran. First off, Burnett has a list of 10 teams he put on his no trade list. Amazingly, the Pirates are not among those...

A.J. Burnett To The Pirates?

I posted earlier about MLB Trade Rumors saying that the Pirates are possible fit for the Yankees to dump trade A.J. Burnett to. The only thing that stopped me from really considering that was that Burnett had a list of ten teams in his contract that he would not be traded to, and I was sure the Pirates were on that list.Well it turns out that the Pirates weren't on that list...

Everyone thinks the Pirates should trade for AJ Burnett and I kind of do, too

Early this morning, Tim Dierkes at MLB Trade Rumors wrote about the Yankees desire to trade AJ Burnett and made up a list of teams he thought might be good fits for the veteran righty. At the top, he put the team that's been unsuccessfully trying to get a vetern right-handed starter to take their money for the last month now: the Pittsburgh Pirates. Shortly after that, Buster...

A.J. Burnett To Pittsburgh: Still A Possibility

I've been picking up some slack at RumBunter since our main writer Tom has been sick. Here's a post updating the A.J. Burnett situation:Clipped from: rumbunter.com (share this clip)

Could the Pirates trade for A.J. Burnett?

There’s been some speculation today about the Pirates and Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett, and Ken Rosenthal confirmed that the Bucs have been in talks about the struggling flamethrower. He also notes, however, that “those conversations failed to progress and perhaps qualified only as due diligence, major-league sources said.” Trading Burnett would be a great way for...

Trade Values: A.J. Burnett and Garrett Jones

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees discussing a A.J. Burnett trade. A big hold up with any Burnett trade is money, as the right hander is due $33 M total over the next two years, and is coming off two bad seasons with New York. Yesterday there was some talk that the Pirates could be interested in Burnett, with the Yankees...
