Major League Baseball is sending the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals in August to Williamsport, Pa., to play a game right in the midst of the all Little League World Series action in town.

Dubbed the “Little League Classic,” the game will be held on Aug. 20. The game obviously won’t be held at Howard J. Lamade Stadium, the main ballpark in the Little League World Series complex, as it’s roughly two-thirds the size of an average MLB stadium.

The game instead will be held at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field, the home of the Williamsport Crosscutters, a Philadelphia Phillies A-level affiliate.

“Major League Baseball’s greatest responsibility is to ensure that today’s youth become active participants in our game as players and fans,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement, via MLB.com. “The ‘MLB Little League Classic’ exemplifies our entire sport’s commitment to building a stronger connection between young people and the National Pastime.

“Our players will honor the great tradition of the Little League World Series and create lifelong memories for the Little Leaguers, their families and the city of Williamsport. I thank the Pirates and the Cardinals, Little League Baseball, [Pennsylvania] Governor [Tom] Wolf, the Crosscutters, the City of Williamsport and ESPN for helping us organize an unforgettable weekend.”

Players for both the Pirates and Cardinals will attend a Little League World Series game ahead of their 7 p.m. ET showdown. It will serve “as a unified demonstration of their passion and commitment to helping grow the game at the youth level,” per Major League Baseball.

The “Little League Classic” finishes up a four-game series between the Pirates and Cards, with the first three games played at PNC Park, only 165 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Fittingly, the Pirates will serve as the home team.
