Pirates Give Injury Updates on Three Players
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Director of Sports Medicine, Todd Tomczyk, have confirmed that Ji-Man Choi is going to miss at least eight weeks due to his “strained left Achilles tendon”

Some other news dropped from Tomczyk is pitcher Jarlin Garcia is still unable to grip a baseball, and Rob Zastryzny has been shut down for 7-10 weeks due to left ulnar neuritis

It would appear that the Pirates will never see Garcia pitch in a regular season game this year, and unless they re-sign him, never in a Pirates uniform for good.

Zastryzny had been performing well until his slip-up in his last outing, where he didn’t even make it through a full inning and walked two, allowed a hit, and an earned run in 0.1 innings pitched.

Choi’s injury apparently occurred on April 13 against the St. Louis Cardinals, where he went 0-5 with three strikeouts. The Pirates placed him on the IL a day later.
