The Pittsburgh Pirates will have some more room in the weight room at McKechnie Field today after making some moves this morning.  Jennifer Langosch breaks down the news of the Pirates roster being trimmed from 54 to 44 this morning.   None of the moves shocked us, but here are the details.

Headed to AA Altoona Curve will be Jeff Locke who had a great Spring Training.  Don’t look for Locke to be stuck in Toona town for long.  Ramon Aguero and Aaron Thompson also join the lefthander in AA.  Andrew Lambo, Brian Friday, and Chase d’Arnaud were all reassigned to Minor League camp.   The games begin tomorrow so look for these players to begin getting more reps and we will try our best to bring you all the latest information.

Players headed to AAA Indianapolis are LHP Tony Watson, OF Alex Presley, left handed reliever Daniel Moskos, and OF Gorkys Hernandez.   Pitcher Michael Crotta,  who has been effective in camp, is still in the Bucs bullpen.  We have to believe the right hander took a sigh of relief when he heard the news.    Cool stuff for the sinker baller, just not sure how much longer he will last.
