Pirates minor league affiliates went 2-4 on the day, with the Indianapolis Indians and Altoona Curve both playing seven-inning doubleheaders to make up rainouts earlier in the week. Indianapolis fell 3-2 in their first game of the day after an up-and-down start from Quinn Priester, who struck out eight batters in four innings but allowed three runs. The Indians then got their doors blown off 13-4 in the nightcap.
The Curve won their first game 5-3 after building a comfortable lead in the early innings thanks to a strong performance on the mound from 2021 third round pick Bubba Chandler, then dropped game two 7-3 because of shaky pitching. High-A Greensboro managed the day’s other win, riding a four-run second inning to a 4-3 victory, while the Bradenton Marauders struggled to a 4-3 loss.
