Found December 06, 2012 on Pirates Prospects:
The Boston Red Sox have announced on Twitter that the Pittsburgh Pirates have traded right-hander Kyle Kaminska as the PTBNL for the Zach Stewart trade. Kaminska was originally acquired from the Marlins in the trade that sent Gorkys Hernandez and a compensation pick. He was Rule 5 eligible in today’s draft, but wasn’t picked. It makes sense that the trade was announced after the draft, as the Red Sox would have wanted to wait to see if he’d still be available. The Pirates moved Kaminska to the rotation in Bradenton almost immediately, making a few adjustments which seemed to have worked. He had good results in limited time in Double-A, and then was one of the better pitchers in the league in the AFL. It’s interesting that they flipped him after that work. Then again, perhaps that work allowed them to flip him. I’m not sure that Kyle Kaminska would have been enough for Zach Stewart when he was acquired. It’s not that Stewart is a high priced player, but Kaminska looked like he would wash out as a Double-A reliever before the trade and before the changes.

As the Winter Meetings came to close the Tigers made a relatively low-key move Wednesday night sending LHP Andy Oliver (a once coveted pitching prospect) to the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor league catcher Ramon Cabrera. The 23-year-old switching hitting Cabrera batted .276 in 2012, with three home runs, 50 RBIs, and 22 doubles in 112 games and offers some catching depth after losing...

Minor rotation signing might be Pirates' next priority

General manager Neal Huntington readily admits the Pittsburgh Pirates probably made their biggest splash of the offseason when they signed free agent catcher Russell Martin. Red Sox May Trade Jacoby Ellsbury if Teams are Interested

Jacoby Ellsbury has long been one of the prized possessions in the Boston.  The Red Sox drafted Ellsbury and developed him.  He became one of the team's better players and even finished second in MVP voting in 2011.  However, it seems Boston is open to trading the 29-year old outfielder. According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox would trade Ellsbury under...

Don’t Touch The Stove, It’s Hot: Grading The Red Sox Moves So Far

I’m pretty realistic about the Red Sox chances next season. There’s no reason to believe that they are going to make any kind of World Series run or anything of that nature, but with all the money they freed up with the blockbuster trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and the immortal Nick Punto to the Dodgers, I thought the team would be able to be a relatively big...
