Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants may be in the worst spot for any top tier starting pitcher. After matching up well against Orlando Hernandez and the Mets last night, but losing 4-2 as El Duque threw a gem as well, Cain finds himself 2-5 in 10 starts.
The righty has a 3.43 era. in his 10 starts this season, has 48 k's in 65 innings, and has allowed more than 4 earned runs in a game once this year.
The problem? Giants have no offense and therefore give him no run support. Look at his losses;
April 9: 1-0
May 3: 5-3
May 8: 9-4
May 19: 2-4
May 31: 2-4
And that is not looking at his no decisons where the Giants do no better. He needs to be asking to be traded to a team that can use his skills.
