A note to the Pittsburgh Pirates' accountants:
For accounting purposes, the $1.5 M that the Pittsburgh Pirates are giving to Ryan Church for the 2010 season can not be written off as part of the cost to sign Anthony Rendon. Instead, it should be filed under "Recruiting Funds". Note that the "Recruiting Funds" budget does have room for the extra $1.32 M that Church can receive if he reaches 600 plate appearances. Please pass this information on to John Russell.
