The Pittsburgh Pirates officially announced what many had speculated for days that blue chip prospect Gerrit Cole will be promoted to the majors. Cole will make his major league debut Tuesday against the reigning world champion San Francisco Giants. No pressure kid, oh and by the way you facing off against former CY Young winner Tim Lincecum. The 22-year old right handed hurler is no stranger to pressure having been the top overall selection in the 2011 MLB entry draft. Cole will be the 6th player from the 2011 class to suit up in the majors following uber prospects Jackie Bradley, Jose Fernandez, Anthony Rendon, Trevor Bauer and Dylan Bundy. Cole has been impressive honing his craft this season with the Triple A Indianapolis Indians of the International League. In 12 starts with the Tribe he is 5-3 with a tidy 2.91 earned run average surrendering 22 earned runs in 68 innings of work. His numbers would be Cy Young worthy if you minus the one start in which he allowed 8 runs in 5.2 d...
