The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed right fielder Travis Snider on the 15-day disabled list with discomfort in his big toe. Snider is batting .219 with 3 home runs and 23 RBIs for the Pirates. With his offensive struggles much of this season, Snider has been a disappoint since coming over in a trade last year.  The injury could persuade the Pirates to shop for a right fielder at the trade deadline. To take Snider’s place on the roster, the Pirates have re-called catcher Tony Sanchez from AAA Indianapolis. Sanchez was hitting .288 with 26 doubles, 10 home runs, 42 RBI and 35 runs scored. He also was the MVP in the Triple-A All-Star game. In Sanchez’s first big league stint back in June, he doubled in his first career at-bat. The Pirates will most likely not use Sanchez on a regular basis, but hopefully, he can provide some power from the bench. Pittsburgh lost 2-of-3 to the Miami Marlins due to lack of offense. On Friday, the Pirates were shut out and on Sunday they scored only two runs. The Pirates must address these offensive issues in the next upcoming days whether it be from using help from within the system or making a trade before Wednesday.
