Kendrick buried them early (AP)
The Phillies keep finding new ways to piss the fans off. In Thursday’s 5-4, finale loss to the Pirates, Kyle Kendrick did them in before their first at bat.
KENDRICK KILLS THEM EARLY
-Sometimes, in baseball, it comes down to one inning. The Phillies were unable to overcome Kyle Kendrick’s awful start. He put them in a 5-0 hole they could not recover...
The Pirates' roster shuffling continues. Before last night's game, the club designated Danny Moskos for assignment to make room for Eric Fryer on the 40-man roster (remember that Chris Leroux is likely coming off of the 60-man DL in the near future; Moskos likely would've been the guy removed for Leroux, so the Pirates are just using this short window to get insurance...
The Phillies are looking to take this four-game set tonight as they look to win their third straight game. The Phils' offense has been heating up during the end of this homestand, especially behind the bats of Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz.
Tonight's starter for the Phillies will be Raul Valdes. Valdes, a relief pitcher coming out of the bullpen, has started two...
Chase Utley hadn't played a game for the Philadelphia Phillies since October 7.
Since Spring Training, fans have been left in the dark regarding Utley's health and whether the 33-year-old second baseman would ever play another inning of baseball for the Phillies, or any Major League team, ever again.
It certainly didn't look good for either the Phillies or Utley...
Tom Van Leer leads off with a lot to say:
Dear Baseball Talk: Philadelphia
Where do I start. It is hard to believe this team. Just when our Offence is starting to get in motion our bullpen continues to be mediocre. Last night the team, the fans, and the city was the happiest its been since Opening Day. Chase is back, we hear Ryan Howard is starting rehab, and Chooch is the...
The big man might be back soon.
In a press release from Ruben Amaro and the Phillies:
First baseman Ryan Howard (left Achilles surgery) will return to Philadelphia tomorrow for functional testing on his left Achilles. If he passes testing, he will begin a rehabilitation assignment with single-A Lakewood on Thursday, June 28.
The Phillies are just trying to outdo themselves...
Ty Wigginton and Carlos Ruiz homered to back Vance Worley and the Philadelphia Phillies held on for a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
Worley (4-4) allowed three runs and six hits in six-plus innings. Michael Schwimer pitched out of a jam in the seventh, Antonio Bastardo worked the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon finished for his 18th save in 19 tries. Papelbon...
Frustration. Need two out of the next two. I said I would be unhappy with a split and I stand by it. The Pirates should have won this series. Mellie’s recap. A Pitt football primer. First Pitch: 7:05 PM EST Where To Watch: Root Sport, MLB.TV, CSN Raul Valdes, LHP (34) Late last night the [...]
A four-run first inning, helped along by several Pirates’ errors, starts the ball rolling for the Phils as they crush the Bucos, 8-3.
The Phils took the lead in the first as, with a man on third, and with one man out, Hunter Pence hits a single to right, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had earlier doubled, then went to third on Juan Pierre’s sacrifice bunt, 1-3, as he beat the...

Qualls designated for assignment.

It may have been just a matter of time...
Chad Qualls was not the lone reason the Phillies lost last night to the Pirates, but his woeful outing in the eighth inning killed any...
