Listen, I get the fact that Alexei Ramirez is a boring player to own in fantasy. With the nickname Cuban Missile you would think he’d be more exciting, but his stats last year were fairly bulletproof (does that joke even make sense?). He’s in his fifth year as a pro, but is already 30 years old (as far as we know). The bottom line is he is as consistent as they comeand was ranked 147th last year according to the four-letter network. If you add in a little position scarcity I bet he ends up right around 136th overall. I also expect Ramirez to steal more than seven bases and he’s not a .260 hitter so he should be just fine as your average shortstop.
Best case scenario: A toned down 2011 Asdrubal Cabrera (CLE)
Similar players: Chase Utley (PHI), Stephen Drew (ARI), Brandon Phillips (CIN)
Worst case scenario: Alex Gonzalez (MIL)
Strengths
Consistency. It’s shocking how consistent Ramirez has been in his career. In his last three seasons he has hit 15, 18 and 15 home runs has scored 71...
