What the hell happened to Ubaldo Jimenez last year? He posted a career-high 4.68 ERA and went 6-9 before the Rockies dealt him to Cleveland. That’s right, the Rockies dealt their ace, whom they had under team control through 2014. Despite pitching fairly consistently the last three seasons (in terms of K’s, BB’s and GB%) his ERA has fluctuated from 2.88 to 4.68 while his FIP has ranged from 3.10 to 3.67. All of this screams bounce-back candidate to me, except for his vast drop in his fastball’s velocity (96.1 mph to 93.5 mph). That’s something to look out for early in spring training before investing in 2012. Best case scenario: David Price (TB) Similar players: Brandon Morrow (TOR), Gio Gonzalez (WAS), Matt Garza (CHC) Worst case scenario: Bud Norris (HOU) Strengths Strikeouts, ground balls.
