It wasn’t a pretty start, but Dan Uggla finished 2011 with Ugg-tastic numbers. His 36 homers were actually a career high and he also added a respectable 88 runs and 82 RBI considering he was sitting at the All-Star break with a .185/.257/.386 slash. Sure his .233 batting average was bad and when you factor in that he needed a 33-game hit streak to make it even that high makes it look even worse. But you knew Uggla wasn’t a .280 hitter, he’s more in the .260 range and one of the most consistent performers at the position. In his six pro seasons, Uggla has hit 30 home runs five times, knocked in 90 runs four times and scored 90 runs four times. Best case scenario: He hits .280 with current power Similar players: Rickie Weeks (MIL), Carlos Santana (CLE), Mike Stanton (MIA) Worst case scenario: Mark Reynolds (BAL) Strengths Power, run production, lineup. Uggla is unmatched when it comes to power among second basemen and when you stick him in the middle of that stack...

The Success of Michael Bourn’s Bunts

It is hard for me to not be excited awaiting Michael Bourn’s first full season with the Atlanta Braves. I will admit last year when I was watching the Braves play the Houston Astros early in the year in at Houston, the person that I felt would be a solution to the Braves’ center-field woes was the man playing centerfield for the Astros that night, Michael Bourn. It...
