The Chuck Knoblog:
Joe Girardi said yesterday after the game that Ponson would remain in the rotation. I don't see what the point of this is. He's clearly terrible and he has not future with the Yankees. Girardi has been known to lie about stuff like this but if he starts that game against the Rays every Yankees fan should be annoyed. Phil Hughes pitched yesterday giving up 1 run in 5 and 2/3 innings. He struck out 8 and walked 4. Obviously, he walked to many but even if you don't want Hughes then why not give the start to Alfredo Aceves? Ponson doesn't give the team the best chance to win and he`s not a rookie that has to go through growing pains. He`s a veteran who is far past his prime.
