Jorge Posada officially announced his retirement at Yankee Stadium. “Hopefully you won’t miss me that much,” Posada said with his good friend Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and CC Sabathia looking on. Brian Cashman, Joe Girardi, and even Diana Munson had glowing things to say when tying a ribbon on Posada’s career. The fact remains that Posada won’t be missed by many of the players currently in the clubhouse; especially his manager. Also, for as good a Yankees career Posada compiled, he is nowhere near the class of Thurman Munson or the other great catchers in team history. You could argue that Posada has the offensive numbers to be in conversations for the Hall of Fame, however his defense and game calling were always far from elite.
