Buster Posey was the center of attention and he wasn't even in the lineup. The reigning NL MVP is one of the bright spots of a disappointing season and not having him out there hurts.
Especially when the Giants lose.
Pablo Sandoval had two hits and drove in a run in the San Francisco Giants' 4-2 defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night.
Hector Sanchez also drove in a run and Brandon Belt had two hits for the Giants, who have lost three of four.
X-rays on Posey's swollen right ring finger revealed a fracture at the tip. It's an injury that heals itself and Posey could play through it.
Ryan Vogelsong (3-5) lost for the first time since May 15, though he missed 69 games with a fractured right hand. He gave up four runs and eight hits over 4 2-3 innings, walking three and striking out three.
''I made some bad decisions on some selections,'' Vogelsong said. ''On top of that I didn't execute the ones I picked.''
