The hot-stove isn’t even lukewarm yet for the Pirates, but here’s a quick rundown of the past week: Pirates 2013 single-game tickets are on sale now. The Bucs signed six minor leaguers: Felix Pie, Brooks Brown, Erik Cordier, David Bromberg, Luis Sanz, and Alex Valdez.  None of them seem particularly interesting, although Pie has played a fair amount in the majors (but not well). Pie (pronounced pee-yay, not like the tasty dessert), Brown, and Cordier will be non-roster spring training invitees. With the Rule 5 Draft approaching, the Bucs added some prospects to the 40-man roster to protect them from the draft. The additions of Tony Sanchez, Vic Black, Phil Iriwn, Ramon Cabrera, and Hunter Strickland bring the roster to 39, which leaves a spot for a Rule 5 choice or some other addition in the near future. Black, Sanchez, and Irwin could see time in Pittsburgh at some point in 2013. Here are two polar opposite videos recapping the 2012 season…a happy one from the Pirates, and a summary of The Collapse by Drew Brown. Click here to view the embedded video.
