The New York Mets return home tonight coming off of a road trip that left a really bad taste in the mouths of both the club and fan base. After sweeping the Florida Marlins, the Mets were crushed 19-8 before bouncing back and taking the series from the Colorado Rockies. Just as it seemed the poor performances were behind them once again, they were swept by the reigning MLB cellar dweller Houston Astros in Texas.

Coming off of a much needed off day, the Mets will try their hand at snapping their three game losing street as Dillon Gee (2.2, 4.85 ERA) makes his fifth start of the year. With the exception of a dominant outing in Atlanta, Gee has been wildly inconsistent, having allowed no less than three runs per start and has allowed ten runs in his last two. Gee hasn't had much success against the Diamondbacks in his career, allowing eight runs, six earned, in eleven innings over two starts.

The National League West Champion Diamondbacks will send National League Rookie of the Month Wade Miley to the bump for his fifth start of the year, and Miley has been dominant to put it lightly. Miley allowed three runs in twenty-one innings through April, which included two starts. Miley's minor league numbers suggest that he's overachieving early in his career, holding a 3.69 ERA and a 1.352 WHIP in four seasons. Miley, much like Gee, will need to control his pitches in order to find success. In that aspect, tonight's matchup very well may end up being a contest of who can execute the best and keep men off base.

Earlier this afternoon, the Mets optioned RHP Chris Schwinden to AAA-Buffalo and recalled PH/1B/OF Vinny Rottino from AAA-Buffalo. Rottino has gotten off to a hot start for the tribe, posting a .317/.360/.442 line with one home run and 14 driven in. He'll provide the Mets with an extra bat off the bench, but it remains to be seen if he'll be a permanent call-up or if he'll be sent back down on Tuesday, when the Mets will have to decide who's going to take Schwinden's spot in the rotation. While many signs are pointing to Miguel Batista, it's possible that Jeremy Hefner might get the assignment.

Mets Starting Lineup:
1. Ruben Tejada SS
2. Daniel Murphy 2B
3. David Wright 3B
4. Lucas Duda RF
5. Scott Hairston LF
6. Ike Davis 1B
7. Andres Torres CF
8. Josh Thole C
9. Dillon Gee P
