Baller turned author RA Dickey takes the hill for NY in the second game of the 2012 season. The Blob has yet to read Dickey's book "Wherever I Wind Up" but from all I hear it's a compelling underdog tale that makes the Mets perfect underdog home for Dickey to finally find success.
Well, that didn’t take long.
It took only seven innings into the 2012 season for the Mets to suffer the injury bug, as centerfielder Andres Torres strained his calf-the same calf that bothered him all spring-in the seventh inning of Thursday’s opener vs. the Braves. As a result, Torres is now headed to the 15-day DL.
Torres has long been victimized by injuries, so I guess this...
There’s a great pic from our new photo services provider of Mets center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis picking up his first major league hit against Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens. The single was one of two hits for Captain Kirk who was making his major league debut.
“It feels great,” Nieuwenhuis said. “I try to keep it on an even keel as much as possible, but it’s been a little...
After climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and publishing his autobiography this winter, R.A. Dickey took the hill for his first start of the season, and handing the Mets their second win of the season in as many games.
Recap: Following Thursday’s 1-0 victory, the Mets looked to keep the momentum going in today’s matinee against the division-rival Atlanta Braves as R.A. Dickey went toe-to...
For the first time since 2009, the New York Mets have started the season 2-0 with a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday afternoon at Citi Field:
R.A. Dickey made his first start of the season and although he did not have his best stuff, the knuckle baller turned in his 13th straight quality start (dating back to July 25, 2011). Dickey threw 94 pitches (58 for strikes...
The guy most want to see play CF is probably on his way in from Buffalo today. Kirk Nieuwenhuis will be the Mets replacement of Pagan, I mean Torres who hurt his callf yesterday running down a triple in CF in the 7th yesterday. This is according to Mr Rubin.
Kirk is someone the scouts think isnt too durable but he is one of those guys who doesnt mind running through walls. He might platoon a
The Mets play game two of the season this afternoon as they take on the Atlanta Braves. The Mets pitching locked down the Braves in the Home Opener as Santana pitched 5 scoreless and a near perfect bullpen closed the door behind them. On the other side of the ball, the Mets were able to get runners on the bases, but bringing them in was a major problem as they beat the Braves by...
Theoretically, the Atlanta Braves’ 2012 season could’ve gotten off to a worse start. After all, no one was injured, right?
That being said, a swift kick below the belt would’ve been less painful than being swept by the Mets on Opening Weekend.
After blowing a 10 1/2-game wild card lead to the St. Louis Cardinals in September, the Braves began the new year with the same inept...
NEW YORK (AP) -- Lucas Duda homered twice and became the first player to take advantage of the pulled-in fences at Citi Field, leading R.A. Dickey and the New York Mets over the Atlanta Braves 4-2 Saturday.
David Wright kept hitting with a homer and two singles as the Mets improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2009. Coming off a down year and injury-interrupted spring training...

With opening night Thursday for the Buffalo Bisons, here is the “official” opening day roster for the Mets AAA entry in the International League. With at least five major league prospects on the roster in Harvey, Familia, Valdespin, Lutz, and Nieuwenhuis, this AAA team is getting away from the image of fielding a team full of retreads every year. Perhaps this incarnation...
