Game Notes:
  • Brian Schneider is making his return off of the DL for the first time since April 15. Welcome back, Brian!
  • In order to activate Brian Schneider from the DL, the Mets traded Ramon Castro to the White Sox for former first-round pick Lance Broadway. Broadway is a 26 year-old RHP who some project as a possible back-end guy.
  • The Mets have won four straight and six of their last seven games. In the month of May, New York is 18-8.
  • The Mets are 10-2 in their last 12 games at Citi Field, and 16-8 overall in 2009.
Plainly stated, the Mets' chances of winning today are slim to none. Given both Johnson's success (which is an understatement) against the Mets and the "B" team lineup, I'd say if the Mets win today, it would be the result of something truly special. With that being said, I'm hopeful (but not optimistic) that Fernando Martinez will do well today, but Josh Johnson isn't exactly a great matchup for the kid. He very well may remain hitless in his MLB career after his third start.

Either way, the Mets won last night and can still win the series, despite what happens today. Let's Go Mets!
