Miguel Tejada; The All-Star Game and the Orioles...
If you have not heard, third-baseman Miguel Tejada was released from the Baltimore Orioles organization. That being said, his tenure with the Orioles - and perhaps also in major league baseball - is over. From the Orioles.com: The Orioles granted infielder Miguel Tejada's request to be released Monday. Tejada, signed to a Minor League deal on May 8, hit .259 with a .621 OPS in...
Baltimore Orioles begin tough stretch this week
Let me start by declaring right here and right now that the Baltimore Orioles are not going to win the AL East. That being said almost 3 months into the season the Orioles, for the first time in years, are still very much in the playoff hunt. With a strong start to the season, as well as the addition of the extra wildcard spot Orioles faithful have started to believe in the once...
The Solowheel: Sure to revolutionize relief pitchers’ commute to the mound (videos)
For every kind of relief pitcher there is in the major leagues, there is a method by which relievers make there way to the mound when their number is called: some lackadaisically trot out to the mound from the bullpen, others storm out of the gate sprinting, like a bull being released into a ring [...]
Orioles Using Bloomberg's Data Presentation Tool
Yesterday the Orioles held an event at Camden Yards with Bloomberg Sports to show off the Bloomberg Baseball Data Tool they've started using (you know, the one that makes those graphics we see on the broadcast showing that Brian Matusz throws 55% fastballs, 15% change-ups, etc.). I unfortunately forgot my notepad, so the recap is all from memory.
Dan Duquette* spoke briefly...
Series Preview: Indians at Orioles 6/28 - 7/1
The good news is, Casey Kotchman broke Andy Pettitte's ankle and he will be out for 6 weeks. You can't cheat your way out of a fractured leg. And now for something completely different.

Dugout Digest - Jason Hammel implodes
Baltimore Orioles starter Jason Hammel has been one of the biggest surprises of the baseball season after the Orioles traded for him this offseason in exchange for veteran Jeremy Guthrie. Going into last night's game against the Angels, Hammel had a sterling 2.61 ERA, and was coming off of a pair of dominant outings in which he had allowed just six hits, one unearned...

Jamie Moyer Hops Aboard Blue Jays With Minor League Deal
Jamie Moyer has a helluva story going on right now. I love the guy to death and I love how he just doesn't want to give up the game, but it's also time to seriously think about retiring and calling it a career.
The 49 year-old lefty has signed a minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, his third team this season. Moyer will head to Triple-A Las Vegas and join the rotation...
Can Brian Matusz Ever Regain What Made Him So Special at the End of 2010?
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;">Right now, despite the Orioles doing relatively well so far this season, it is been apparent that there’s been an issue with the starting pitching outside of Jason Hammel and Wei-Yin Chen.
On Tuesday night, southpaw Brian Matusz struggled on the mound again in a loss...

Your browser does not support iframes.
Mike Trout leads the American League in batting average and stolen bases, and if they had a category for spectacular catches, he’d be leading that too.
The 20-year-old outfielder made a perfectly timed jump to rob Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy of a home run to center in the first inning of Wednesday’s Angels-Orioles game. Trout extended...
