ARLINGTON, Texas Jurickson Profar and Leonys Martin spent a couple of days at Rangers Ballpark this week as part of the club's hitting camp for some of the organization's young stars. They are hoping it's a sign of what's to come this year as both players are looking to make an impact with Texas. Profar and Martin were at the ballpark along with Engel Beltre and Jorge Alfaro Wednesday. Mike Olt also participated in the camp earlier in the week. Profar, 19, the organization's top prospect, has had an interesting offseason. He went from having a chance to being the club's everyday second baseman this spring to a likely candidate for Round Rock's Triple A roster when the club decided to keep Ian Kinsler at second base. Profar, who has never played at Triple A, understands. "If it's like that I just have to go there and play," said Profar, who was also slowed by a sore forearm this winter but feels good now. "That's it. There...

Rangers Rumors: Texas, David Murphy Discussing Long-Term Extension

The Texas Rangers avoided arbitration with outfielder David Murphy yesterday, as the two sides agreed to a one-year, $5.775 million contract for the 2013 season. However, assistant general manager Thad Levine told T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com that the two sides have explored the possibility of a multi-year extension. "When we went into the offseason, we identified a ...

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Rangers will invite Robertson to big league camp during spring training...

Sosa: McGwire and I should be in Hall

Sammy Sosa answered several questions during a web chat, and he said that he and Mark McGwire should be in the Hall of Fame.

David Murphy: Next Ranger In Line For An Extension?

The Rangers have not been shy about keeping their own core players in recent years. For every Josh Hamilton or Mike Napoli or C.J. Wilson that departs there’s an Elvis Andrus or Ian Kinsler or Matt Harrison who stays. They’ve been aggressive about signing players on the right side of 30 to multi-year extensions while eschewing the guys approaching their decline years. David Murphy...

Sammy Sosa speaks his mind. Yawn!!

Sammy Sosa woke up.   Someone must’ve told him he didn’t get elected to the Hall of Fame.  Now he’s all over the media talking about he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and how the Cubs should’ve retired his number a long time ago.   To the first point, I say no. [...]

Top 60 Outfielders for 2013 Fantasy Baseball

The top 60 outfielders for 2013 fantasy baseball become a sloppy mess towards the end. I almost went with guys like Leonys Martin over, say, Angel Pagan, but that's upside for upside's sake over a known entity. Guys near the top of the 80 outfielder post, which will be up next, like Adam Eaton and Leonys Martin are great, but I can't rank them above guys who have shown...
