After going 2-for-4 last night, he added three more hits tonight, including a double and a homer. Presley scored three of the four runs for Indianapolis. Jordy Mercer joined Alex Presley last night as the only other player with a hit. Tonight he added two more, both doubles. Gerrit Cole got off to a good start in the first three innings. He gave up just one hit and struck out one. In the fourth he ran into trouble. Cole gave up three runs on four hits in the inning. That was his last inning, most likely due to a single inning pitch limit, since he topped 30 pitches in the inning.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE Box Score Result: Altoona 4, Erie 1 Starting Pitcher: Casey Sadler, RHP (1-0, 1.80) – 5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Mel Rojas, CF (.300) – 2-for-5, 2B, HR, SB Other Notable Performers Tim Alderson, RHP (0.00) – 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Jarek Cunningham, 2B (.400) – 2-for-5 Matt Curry, 1B (.400) – 2-for-5 Andrew Lambo, LF (.250) – 2-for-5 Adalberto Santos, 3B (.333) – 1-for-3, 2 BB Carlos Paulino, C (.500) – 2-for-2, 3 BB Game Notes: Altoona started off the night with five straight hits, and scored three of their four runs in the first inning. Mel Rojas had a double in the first, then later added an inside the park home run. He had a little help, as the center fielder ran into the wall and didn’t get back up. Jarek Cunningham had his second straight two hit night, as did Matt Curry. Casey Sadler is a sleeper pitching prospect to watch this year, falling just outside of our top 30. Sadler had a good Double-A debut, which featured an 11:0 GO/AO ratio from the sinkerball pitcher.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Fort Myers 4, Bradenton 1 Starting Pitcher: Nick Kingham, RHP (3.60) – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Gregory Polanco, CF (.375) – 3-for-4, SB Other Notable Performers Willy Garcia, RF (.429) – 2-for-4 Game Notes: Click here to read my game story.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result: Asheville 15, West Virginia 6 Starting Pitcher: Clay Holmes, RHP (9.82) – 3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 6 K, 1 HR Top Hitter:  Max Moroff, SS (.375) – 3-for-5, 2B Other Notable Performers Junior Sosa, CF (.286) – 2-for-4, 2B Walker Gourley, DH (.429) – 2-for-4 Game Notes: The West Virginia pitching staff had a rough night. After Holmes came out, Josh Smith came on and gave up three runs in 1.2 innings, including allowing his only inherited runner to score. Bryton Trepagnier relieved Smith mid-inning, and allowed both inherited runners to score. Trepagnier then gave up three runs, two earned, in 1.1 innings. Ryan Hafner finished it out, giving up four runs in 2.1 innings, with three home runs. Max Moroff picked up his first hits of the year with his three hit night.
