He has 15 hits during the streak, but still only one extra base hit. Jeff Clement went 1-for-5 with his 34th double of the year.

Game Notes: Gerrit Cole was cruising until a rain delay in the fourth inning. Cole started with three no-hit innings, allowing two walks and striking out three. After the delay he gave up two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings, with two strikeouts. Quincy Latimore hit his 13th homer of the year. Jarek Cunningham hit his fifth homer of the year. Matt Curry is in a slump lately, with a .132/.150/.289 line in 38 at-bats over his last ten games, along with 12 strikeouts and one walk in that span.

Game Notes: Casey Sadler struggled for the second time in his last three starts. Coming in to this outing he had a 3.56 ERA in 60.2 innings, with a 41:14 K/BB ratio as a starter. Alex Dickerson hit his 27th double of the year. He’s had an OPS over .900 in each month since the start of June, including a .938 OPS in four games in August, heading in to tonight’s game.

 

A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER

Game Notes: Robby Rowland now has a 3.36 ERA in 77.2 innings, along with a 39:19 K/BB ratio. The sinkerball pitcher had a lot of fly balls today, with a 5:7 GO/AO ratio and two home runs. Kristy Robinson featured Rowland in an article on Saturday, looking at the changes he’s made since coming from the Diamondbacks via trade. Willy Garcia hit his 13th homer of the year. Jose Osuna hit his 30th double of the year. Dan Gamache is hitting for a .368/.400/.553 line in 38 at-bats over his last ten games.

 

A-: STATE COLLEGE SPIKES

Game Notes: For the eighth straight start, Luis Heredia pitched in to the fifth inning. His three runs allowed tonight matched a season high, and was only the second time this year that he’s given up more than two earned runs in a start. He has a 2.28 ERA in 43.1 innings, with a 25:10 K/BB ratio. Heredia turns 18 this coming Friday. State College held a 9-3 lead after six innings, but the bullpen gave up seven earned runs in the final three innings. Jesus Vasquez hit his first homer for State College.
