Andy Oliver’s control problems have gotten bad lately, with 34 walks in his last 27.2 innings. Duke Welker had a stretch where he was giving up a lot of runs, which came after a promotion to the majors where he didn’t appear in a game. He has since settled down, and has pitched eight innings without an earned run.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE    Box Score Result: Binghamton 5, Altoona 2 Starting Pitcher: Ethan Hollingsworth, RHP (4.35) – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Justin Howard, 1B (.241) – 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers: Mel Rojas, CF (.269) – 2-for-4, 3B Alex Dickerson, RF (.225) – 2-for-4, 2B Game Notes: Jameson Taillon was supposed to start today, but was scratched with a stiff neck. Alex Dickerson has a .286/.333/.571 line in 35 at-bats over his last ten games. A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER   Box Score Result: Hagerstown 4, West Virginia 1 Starting Pitcher: Tyler Glasnow, RHP (2.92) – 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Max Moroff, SS (.231) – 2-for-4 Other Notable Performers: Josh Bell, RF (.277) – 1-for-4 Game Notes: Tyler Glasnow had a pretty amazing event take place tonight. It wasn’t the fact that he struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings. That seems to happen every start. In fact, he’s struck out eight or more in six of his last seven starts. The amazing thing was that he gave up three hits. That was the first time he had given up more than two hits in a game since April 24th. On the season he has a 2.92 ERA in 52.1 innings, with an 80:35 K/BB ratio and only 23 hits allowed. The West Virginia offense only had four hits on the night.
