Game Notes: Â Altoona was held to three hits on the day. Brandon Cumpton had a better result than his previous four starts, which saw him give up 18 earned runs in 16.2 innings. Jeff Inman has a 3.42 ERA in 26.1 innings since the Eastern League All-Star break, with a 19:8 K/BB ratio. Nathan Baker gave up six earned runs in 2.2 innings on August 14th. He has since given up one earned run in five innings over two appearances, with a 7:1 K/BB ratio. Baker had been doing well in relief until a rough stretch in his last ten games.

Game Notes: Mel Rojas is on a mini hot streak, which has been the story of his season. In the last week he has gone 8-for-26 with two doubles and a homer. This has been a frequent occurrence for the 2010 third rounder, but he’s yet to be able to sustain the success over the long haul.

Game Notes: Eric Avila’s hitting streak was extended to 13 games. Nick Kingham has given up seven earned runs in 41.1 innings over his last eight starts, with a 35:9 K/BB ratio. Kristy Robinson did a story on Kingham’s increased confidence lately.

Game Notes:  In his last start, Heredia gave up four earned runs in 3.1 innings. That was a season high in earned runs, and only the second time this year that he hadn’t pitched in to the fifth inning. Heredia rebounded today by going five innings, giving up a run on no walks and three hits. On the season he has a 2.86 ERA in 56.2 innings, with a 33:16 K/BB ratio. State College only had three hits on the day.

Game Notes:  Glasnow had combined for eight no-hit innings in his last two starts. He went a third start without a hit, but not in a good way. Glasnow walked four batters in the first inning, before being lifted due to a single inning pitch count. He didn’t issue a hit, but gave up one run before Andy Otamendi came on to leave the bases loaded. The GCL Pirates wrap up their regular season tomorrow. They have currently clinched the playoffs, and are tied for first in the GCL North with the Tigers.
