Liriano gave up all four of his runs in the second inning. In three rehab starts in Triple-A he had a 3.38 ERA and a 23:1 K/BB ratio in 16 innings. Duke Welker threw two shutout innings, and now has started the season with 16 innings without an earned run. He has also allowed just three hits, and has a 20:8 K/BB ratio. Vic Black gave up the game winning run in his second inning of work. He has given up six earned runs this year, and five of those have come in his second inning. He walked the leadoff batter, then allowed that batter to reach third on a throwing error on a pickoff. Black then intentionally walked the next two batters, so his three walks didn’t represent a big breakdown in control.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE   Box Score Result: Erie 2, Altoona 1 Starting Pitcher: David Bromberg, RHP (0-4, 5.57) – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo, CF (.287) – 2-for-4, HR Other Notable Performers: Drew Maggi, LF (.237) – 2-for-4 Game Notes: Andrew Lambo hit his fifth homer of the year for Altoona. He now has a .287/.352/.500 line in 108 at-bats this season. Adalberto Santos went 1-for-2, and has now reached base safely in all 15 games this season. Santos has a .500 OBP. David Bromberg made his third start with Altoona, stepping into a rotation that has seen Brandon Cumpton promoted to Indianapolis and Tyler Waldron placed on the DL.   Gregory Polanco hit his third homer of the year. A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Dunedin 6, Bradenton 5 Starting Pitcher: Zack Dodson, LHP (5.40) – 5.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Gregory Polanco, CF (.321) – 3-for-5, 2B, HR, SB, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers: Willy Garcia, RF (.239) – 2-for-4, 2B, BB Alen Hanson, SS (.248) – 1-for-4, BB, SB, 2 RBI Game Notes: Zack Dodson made his first start of the year. He was doing fine until the fifth inning, where he gave up all three of his earned runs. Two of those runs came on a home run. Gregory Polanco hit his third homer of the season, and his ninth double. Polanco is 7-for-14 with three doubles and a homer in his last four games. He also added his tenth stolen base of the year.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result:  West Virginia 6, Greenville 3 Starting Pitcher: John Kuchno, RHP (4.33) – 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Josh Bell, RF (.274) – 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers: Max Moroff, SS (.221) – 1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI Stetson Allie, 1B (.355) – 1-for-3, 2B, BB Game Notes: Josh Bell hit his fourth homer of the year. Max Moroff hit his third homer of the year. John Kuchno gave up ten earned runs in 7.1 innings over his first two starts, and has since given up three earned runs in 19.2 innings. He’s not striking out a lot of batters, and has a high walk rate, but also has a high ground ball rate and is lowering his BAA.
