Tony Sanchez is 9-for-22 in his last six games. This was his third multi-hit game during that span. Vic Black gave up his first runs since the second inning of his first appearance. He had thrown seven shutout innings over five appearances since that point. On the season he has a 3.86 ERA in 9.1 innings, with a 14:6 K/BB ratio.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE  Box Score Result: Harrisburg 5, Altoona 4 Starting Pitcher: Stolmy Pimentel, RHP (0.52) – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Stefan Welch, 3B-1B (.194) – 2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI Other Notable Performers: Jarek Cunningham, 2B (.240) – 2-for-4, 3B Game Notes: Stolmy Pimentel ran into some control problems tonight, walking four batters in five innings. He also gave up his first run of the season in 17.1 innings. Pimentel has a 15:8 K/BB ratio to go with that one run. He threw 87 pitches tonight, with 56 strikes. Stefan Welch hit his first homer of the year. Jarek Cunningham had two hits, with one of those being a triple. He now has a .749 OPS on the year and a .200 ISO, which aren’t great, but are both improvements over last year.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Palm Beach 4, Bradenton 3 Starting Pitcher: Charlie Morton, RHP (6.00) – 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Jose Osuna, 1B (.216) – 3-for-4, 2 RBI, SB Other Notable Performers: Benji Gonzalez, 3B (.333) – 3-for-5, 3B Gregory Polanco, CF (.351) – 3-for-5, 2B Matt Benedict, RHP (0-2, 4.61) – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR Game Notes: Charlie Morton started the game, making a rehab appearance. For my recap of Morton’s start, click here. Matt Benedict came on in relief and had one of his best outings of the year, and during his entire time in high-A. Jose Osuna has been hitting the ball well lately, and added three hits tonight. Gregory Polanco has also been hot at the plate, and had a three hit night. Add Benji Gonzalez to the list of players who is on a hot streak and had three hits. Alen Hanson didn’t pick up his offense tonight, but looked strong defensively, which is a change from where he was last week.   Eric Wood hit his fourth homer. A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result: West Virginia 7, Hagerstown 4 Starting Pitcher: Tyler Glasnow, RHP (1.54) – 4.0 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Eric Wood, 3B (.358) – 3-for-5, HR, 4 RBI Other Notable Performers Raul Fortunato, LF (.345) – 2-for-4 Josh Bell, RF (.254) – 1-for-4, BB, 2 RBI Barrett Barnes, CF (.200) – 1-for-5 Game Notes: Tyler Glasnow has had some interesting results early in the season. In 11.2 innings he has given up five runs, but only two earned. He’s only given up five hits, but has walked nine batters. He’s also struck out 13. In his last two starts, Glasnow has given up one hit in 6.2 innings, with a 7:9 K/BB ratio. Eric Wood hit his fourth homer of the season, and is now hitting for a .358/.393/.660 line in 53 at-bats. Barrett Barnes, who was promoted earlier today, made his debut with West Virginia and got his first hit.
