The Cardinals have apparently found the veteran right-handed bat for their bench they desired this offseason. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com was the first to report Friday morning that the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a two-year, 5 million contract with former All-Star corner infielder and outfielder Ty Wigginton. Wigginton, 35, hit .235 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI in 315 at-bats with the Philadelphia Phillies last season. The 11-year veteran has a career .263 average with the Mets, Pirates, Devil Rays, Astros, Orioles, Rockies and Phillies. The Cardinals sought to find a right-handed bat with some power this offseason and Wigginton fits their description. He has four seasons of at least 20 home runs, the last coming when he hit 22 home runs, had 76 RBI and made his only All-Star team with Baltimore in 2010.
