The Dodgers didn’t want shortstop Rafael Furcal anymore and he doesn’t want his Los Angeles home anymore. The Dodgers traded Furcal to the St. Louis Cardinals last season after he hit .197 in 37 games.
He turned things around in St. Louis, went on to win a World Series and sign a nifty, new two-year deal worth $14 million. Furcal has earned more than $80 million in his career, which is probably why he doesn’t mind getting the short end of the stick in selling his house.
Furcal bought the joint for $4.25 million in 2007. It’s currently on the market for $3.8 million. Why the drop? We’re not entirely sure. The home is located in the La Canada Flintridge area of Los Angeles, which is a rich suburb in the foothills north of Pasadena. That means it’s often hit by mudslides when it rains heavily, which could be the problem. Or, it could be that no one wants to live in the home of an underperforming shortstop.
Either way, here’s the lowdown on Furcal’s digs:
7,402 square feet
6 bedrooms
