Outfielder Dustan Mohr is from Hattiesburg, Mississippi; the town was founded by William H. Hardy (pioneer lumberman and civil engineer), and graciously named it after his wife, Hattie. After high school Mohr was selected in the 20th round by the California Angels in the 1994 draft, but decided to not sign and attend the University Of Alabama. After a 25 homerun season at Bama in 97, Mohr was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 9th round.

Through A- to AA Mohr had some extreme ups and downs with his BA fluctuating from .291 to .167. And after 3 years the Indians gave up on Mohr and released him for the Minnesota Twins to pick up. After a strong start in AA with 24 bombs and a .336 BA he was called up on August 29th to play RF. With Matt Lawton’s injuries, Mohr and Bobby Kielty were used to create the two-headed moster, “Dusty Kielmohr”.  In Dustan’s 20 games he did not do very well. He hit .235 with 0 bombs in 51 AB.

Mohr’s best season with the Twins (out of 3) came in 2002 when he hit .269 with 12 homeruns and 23 doubles. After a poor season of a .250 BA Mohr was traded to the San Francisco Giants for J.T Thomas. In his one season with the Giants he bounced back and hit a career high .274 with 7 HR in 117 games.

In 2005 Mohr signed with the Rockies to try his luck at Coors Field. He was not lucky. He hit .214 and was never able to rebound for the rest of his career, not in Boston or in Tampa.

In 2008 Mohr got a contract in the American Association playing for the Wichita Wignuts. Mohr attempted to make a comeback in 2009 with the Rockies but failed. In 2010 he played for the Long Island Ducks with Joey Gathright.
