It couldn’t last forever could it? The Chicago Cubs have played some very good baseball over the last week, and it might have saved Mike Quade’s job (let’s hope not). That all came to an end yesterday as Randy Wells was given the ball to hit number 8. Wells was once again mediocre/awful and I think it’s time to see what else is in the system in terms of arms. This guy as I’ve said for 3 years is not going to get it done, and is a 5 or in the bullpen/minors for most organizations. His stuff is just flat, and there’s nothing he’s going to be able to do.
The Cubs offense had a decent day, and continued to fight back even trailing 6-2. Starlin Castro hit his 5th homer of the year, but Sean Marshall had a rare hiccup in the 8th- blowing a save. Aroldis Chapman came in and it was just straight cheddar from there on it.
