Los Angeles Angels
The Rangers took fans on a rollercoaster tonight. One that starts out really terrible and ends really awesome. I don’t think I’d care to go on a ride like that if it exists in real life. And my baseball heart certainly doesn’t need them in metaphor version either. But if it ends in a win like that, I really don’t want to complain.
Yu Darvish struck out the side in the first inning and then set the Angels down in order in the 2nd. He was looking really sharp. Then came the 3rd … back-to-back one-out walks and then two fielder’s choice hits, and a throwing error by Ian Kinsler broke the scoreless game. And then a home run by Albert Pujols. And then two more walks. And a two-run double. The Angels scored six times, and if you’ve been watching the Rangers (or reading these posts) lately, you’ll understand why I figured the game was over right then. I didn’t think there was any way my boys put up more than six runs tonight.
The Rangers got one run back in the bottom of the 3rd, but th

Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton, in a massive slump, told reporters that he attributes it to "being disobedient" to God and that "there's consequences" for doing so.
As you’ve undoubtedly heard by now, the Rangers have summoned third base prospect Mike Olt from Double-A, and he’ll be joining the team in Texas in time for tonight’s game against the Angels. With Adrian Beltre manning the hot corner, though, third base is not in his immediate future, and the Rangers certainly aren’t calling Olt up to sit on the bench. Instead, his arrival...
ARLINGTON, Texas Josh Hamilton showed flashes of his April and May self on the field Thursday night for the Texas Rangers, getting two hits and driving in four in a 15-9 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
What's going on with Hamilton off the field remains a mystery.
Hamilton has talked about being disobedient with God with the media and that he would let everyone know what...
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Josh Hamilton got back on track and helped the Texas Rangers' offense stay on a roll on Thursday night. Hamilton drove in four runs and the Rangers bailed out Ryan Dempster in his Texas debut in a 15-9 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Hamilton hit .177 in July, but had his second four-RBI game of the season. He has 10 RBIs in his past nine games. "...
Ryan Dempster finally has a chance to start for the Texas Rangers.
Traded Tuesday from the Chicago Cubs, Dempster arrived in the Metroplex about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and spent the remainder of the afternoon getting adjusted to his fourth major league team - the one that drafted him in the third round in 1995 out of a high school in British Columbia. He was traded as a minor leaguer...
The Texas Rangers are moving Roy Oswalt to the bullpen after he was hit hard in his latest start.
Texas general manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that the move wasn't necessarily permanent.
Oswalt gave up eight runs and 11 hits in 5 1-3 innings Monday in a 15-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
The 34-year-old righty is 3-2 with a 6.49 ERA in six starts. He signed as a free agent...
Texas Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz needs Tommy John surgery to repair a tear in his right elbow and likely will be sidelined until next summer.
The two-time AL champion Rangers said Feliz will have surgery on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the AL West leaders acquired ace Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs.
Feliz was 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA in eight games, including seven starts. He has...
Texas Rangers fans were given some bad news after the team acquired Ryan Dempster from the Cubs, as it was announced by General Manager Jon Daniels that pitcher Neftali Feliz will require season ending Tommy John surgery for a torn UCL ligament in his throwing elbow.
This news comes on the heels of the announcement that fellow pitcher Colby Lewis would require Tommy John surgery...
Good news for fans of the UConn Huskies and their baseball program. Branford, CT native and former Huskies third baseman Mike Olt has been called up to the big leagues by the Texas Rangers.
Here's the release from UConn:

Earlier in the day we learned that the Texas Rangers had called up Branford, CT native and former UConn Huskies third baseman Mike Olt from Double-A.
Rangers manager Ron Washington wasted no time putting Olt in the Rangers lineup as he is batting eighth and playing first base. Well, Olt didn't have to wait long for his first MLB hit as he singled off of Los Angeles Angels of...
The Texas Rangers have acquired pitcher Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs, beating out both the Dodgers and Yankees for the highly coveted starter.
The Rangers sent third baseman Christian Villanueva and RHP Kyle Hendricks to Cubs for Dempster. Both are at Class A.
The Rangers were talking to the Cubs about pitcher Matt Garza and Dempster to the end, trying to get one or the...
Less than a month ago, after playing in the All-Star Futures Game in Kansas City, Mo., I asked former Connecticut infielder Mike Olt what he was hearing about a possible promotion in the Texas Rangers organization. There had been whispers that he might get called up to the big leagues from Double-A ball.

The Rays and Rangers have had discussions on a trade involving James Shields, major-league sources told FOXSports.com.
Shields is expendable because of Tampa Bay's pitching depth, while the Rangers would like to upgrade their rotation given injuries to Colby Lewis and Neftali Feliz and the poor performance of Roy Oswalt.
The two teams have met in the first round of the American...
