The Texas Rangers' injury/illness epidemic is spreading through the middle of the lineup. On Wednesday, Josh Hamilton, the team's No. 3 hitter, reported no improvement in the blurred vision and difficulty focusing that forced him out of Tuesday's game after three innings. In addition, cleanup hitter Adrian Beltre was out of the lineup due to an intestinal ailment. The Rangers had both players undergo a battery of tests, but they had no definitive results on what was causing the problems. The club had originally indicated Hamilton was having "sinus problems," but it amended that Wednesday to indicate that while his symptoms were consistent with some sinus infections, there was no clear explanation. Neither player joined the team at Angels Stadium on Wednesday for the Rangers' 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels. "We haven't gotten all the reports back yet," general manager Jon Daniels said when asked how long the duo might be out. "T...

Josh Hamilton Out with Sinus Infection

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was hoping to rejoin the club’s lineup last night for its finale with the Los Angeles Angels, but symptoms of his sinus infection remained.  This prompted the Rangers to send Hamilton back to Texas to be evaluated by team doctors, reports Lyle Spencer of MLB.com: "Everybody in my family's been sick," Hamilton...

Adrian Beltre is the Rangers' best player

Not only has Adrian Beltre been the best player for the Texas Rangers this season, he is one of the best players in baseball when it has really mattered--the last two months. His defense is always first rate and ranks him at the head of his position class, but Beltre had a 1.006 OPS in August with a .417 wOBA and has topped that this month with a 1.161 OPS and a .470 wOBA. Holy...

Hamilton, Beltre out of Rangers' lineup

Sluggers Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre have been scratched from the Texas Rangers' lineup for their game against the Los Angeles Angels. Hamilton is out with a recurring sinus condition, which also forced him to leave Tuesday night's series opener in the fourth inning when it affected the center fielder's vision. It was the same condition that bothered the All-Star...

Hamilton exits game with sinus ailment

The Texas Rangers' 11-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday was so bad, one player had to leave the game with a headache. Josh Hamilton came out before the decisive bottom half of the fourth with blurry vision and a headache that club officials said was the product of a sinus issue. Hamilton was 0-for-1 with a walk in the game. The Rangers were leading 3-1 going to...

Beltre talks his way into lineup, hits decisive homer

Adrian Beltre essentially crawled into Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington's office Thursday afternoon, sat doubled over in a chair with stomach cramps and told his skipper he was ready to play. "That's Adrian Beltre," Washington said. "And when he says something, you believe him." In case there were any doubt, Beltre delivered a game-winning homer...

Adrian Beltre Returns In Big Way

While Josh Hamilton wasn’t in the Texas Rangers’ lineup Thursday night in their finale against the Los Angeles Angels, third baseman Adrian Beltre was a late entry, and what an entry he was. Beltre, who contributed the go-ahead home run last night, explained the gastrointestinal pains he’s dealt with over the past few days to Lyle Spencer of MLB.com: ...

SF Giants Rumors: Josh Hamilton To The Giants, Maybe?

Buster Olney of ESPN.com says (via Twitter) one NL official thinks outfielder Josh Hamilton could end up in San Francisco next season. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via Twitter) if the Giants were to sign Hamilton, it would have to be to a high annual salary and short-term contract.Hamilton is phenomenal player that can help any team light up the scoreboard...

Anonymous GM: Tigers could surprise and enter the bidding for Josh Hamilton

With the MLB playoffs and offseason rapidly approaching thoughts of the offseason begin to come to mind among fans around the Majors. With that said one of the biggest free agents this offseason (given he doesn’t sign a new contract by the end of the year) is going to be that of Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton. Now the bidding for him will without a doubt be astronomical as his agent...

Beltre's blast sends Rangers over Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Adrian Beltre hit a tiebreaking two-run homer off Angels closer Ernesto Frieri in the ninth inning, and the Texas Rangers dealt yet another blow to Los Angeles' fading playoff hopes with a 3-1 victory Thursday night. Yu Darvish (16-9) held the Angels to four hits and struck out nine in a scintillating eight-inning duel with Zack Greinke, who gave up five...

Rangers lose 6-3 in Seattle

After Adrian Beltre’s heroics last night, I was disappointed to find out he was not in the lineup (or Seattle) tonight.  He remained in Los Angeles for more tests.  Apparently, he’s still having intestinal issues.  Bummer. Have no fear … David Murphy is here.  It’s just a shame he couldn’t bat more often.  Three hits, three RBI.  Way to carry the offense tonight,...

Rangers-Mariners Preview

A postseason berth could be secured over the weekend for the Texas Rangers, who are also inching closer to winning a third straight AL West title. While reaching the playoffs doesn't seem like it should be an issue, the team suddenly has concerns over the health of its All-Star center fielder. Bothered by a sinus problem, Josh Hamilton is returning to Texas for further examination...

Beltre’s bomb helps Darvish to 16th win

Yu Darvish vs. Zack Greinke. There aren’t many pitching match-ups better than that.  And tonight’s game was every bit the pitcher’s duel you’d expect with those two arms leading the way. The Rangers got to Greinke first.  But not until the 5th inning.  Nelson Cruz singled and then advanced to third on a David Murphy single.  He scooted home on a Mitch Moreland sacrifice...
