The Texas Rangers are hoping the Yu Darvish-Aaron Hill pairing will finally push the club over the top when it comes to the Final Five voting for the All-Star Game. After the first day of voting, things are working for the Rangers. Darvish has a slim lead over Chicago's Jake Peavy for the final All-Star spot for the American League. The Rangers decided to team with the other West division champs in the Diamondbacks to promote Hill, who has already hit for the cycle twice this year. So far, things haven't worked out so well for Hill. He's fourth in the NL voting, which is being led by Atlanta's Chipper Jones. The Rangers have tried to pair with another team before but it didn't work out so well. In 2010, Michael Young was on the Final Five ballot and the club teamed with Washington, who was pushing Ryan Zimmerman. Neither Young nor Zimmerman made the team that year. Chicago's Paul Konerko won the AL vote. Ian Kinsler was also a Final Five candidate in 2009. Detroit's Brandon Inge won the fan vote that season. Voting for this year's Final Five ends at 3 p.m. Thursday.
