Throwing your 21-year-old rookie on the mound for a game you need to win to clinch the division title probably isn’t the best idea.  But considering what other pitchers were available, it probably wasn’t the worst idea either. Martin Perez looked like he was feeling every bit of the pressure in the 1st inning, giving up three hits and a walk.  He was fortunate only two runs scored in that frame.  Especially since one came in on a balk. And whatever happened in the dugout between innings seemed to help him a little.  He returned and pitched three scoreless innings, with just one baserunner in that time.  The 5th inning wasn’t so pretty though — two doubles and another run in.  Perez’ night was over. Scott Feldman’s night was just beginning.  But it was a short and fairly tame one.  Perez’ last runner of the night scored, but that was it.  Michael Kirkman and Koji Uehara had uneventful outings, and then Roy Oswalt came on to hopefully continue that trend.
