Amid yesterday's craziness leading up to the trade deadline, it was reported that Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman was considering retirement. The veteran is dealing with several injuries, and it's not clear when or if he'll be back with the team this season. While Berkman's future remains murky at best, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting that he is not retiring.
Source: Lance Berkman is NOT retiring.

Rosenthal reported yesterday that Berkman was considering walking away from the roughly $4.4 million remaining on his current contract and calling it a career. Sources told Evan Grant of The Dallas News that the report was "premature," and it was later announced that Berkman would be meeting with Texas brass yesterday.
It's unclear what came out of the meeting, but whatever the case Rosenthal's sources are confident the veteran isn't retiring, at least not at this point. While he may not be calling it a career, that doesn't mean Berkman will necessarily be back on the field for the Rangers anytime soon as he continues to recover from his back and hip injuries, along with his chronic knee ailments.
