It's good to be home.

The Texas Rangers will spend the majority of the remainder of the season there.

After going 6-4 on a 10-game trip to Cleveland, Kansas City and Tampa Bay, the Rangers took their penultimate off day of the season Monday. Beginning Tuesday, the Rangers play 13 of their final 22 games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, where their .632 winning percentage (43-25) is the best in the major leagues.

The Rangers begin a weeklong homestand with three games against the Cleveland Indians, then host the Seattle Mariners for three more.

Monday's off day was well-timed. The Rangers played extra innings in three of their final four games on the road trip. The trek also included a 5 a.m. arrival in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Friday, which can wear a team down for a day or two after. The club managed just two hits in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

Despite the results, there were no complaints of fatigue.

"We could have had all the energy in the world out there and it wouldn't have mattered against (Tampa Bay starter James Shields)," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to them. We'll get an off day and come back refreshed."

Designated hitter Michael Young said, "We know how the big-league schedule works. When you are a veteran team, like we are, you catch your second wind pretty quickly."
