ARLINGTON, Texas Texas right-hander Colby Lewis, who is out for the season after tearing his right flexor tendon, has been signed for the 2013 season. Lewis, who would have been a free agent after the season, will make 2 million and could make up to 6 million if he reaches all of the incentives in his contract. Lewis had surgery to repair the flexor tendon July 27 and isn't expected to be able to pitch until next summer. He went on the 15-day disabled list July 23. It was the second time he was on the DL for the injury. Lewis, 33, was 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts before getting hurt. The best postseason pitcher the Rangers have had over the last two seasons, Lewis was 4-1 with a 2.34 ERA in the playoffs. Texas signed him to a two-year deal before the 2010 season and he's gone 20-16 over the last two regular seasons. Lewis was originally drafted by the Rangers but struggled in the majors. He played in Japan in 2008 and 2009 before re-signing with Texas.
