Tonight, the Rangers held a press conference at 8:15 p.m. to announce the signing of Roy Oswalt.
Oh, and they also played a game that started at 7:05 p.m. Clearly, one of those things was more important than the other.
And the team seemed to sense that too. They didn’t really show up tonight. Or rather, I didn’t recognize the team that showed up tonight.
Scott Feldman didn’t have very good luck tonight. He gave up a two-run home run in the 2nd. Then two more runs scored in the 5th on a throwing error by Adrian Beltre. But those runners wouldn’t have been on if Feldman hadn’t served up a double and a walk. Sigh. It just wasn’t his night. He couldn’t get out of the 5th inning.
The other Rangers pitchers didn’t have much better luck. Well, Robbie Ross did OK for the rest of the 5th and the 6th. Maybe his Whataburger meet-up today helped fuel him. Alexi Ogando barely got out of the 7th unscathed.
