The Tampa Bay Rays have activated infielder Jeff Keppinger from the restricted list and put first baseman-outfielder Brandon Allen on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right quadriceps. The Rays made the moves before Thursday night's game against New York. Keppinger started at designated hitter - he's 8 for 17 lifetime against Yankees starter CC Sabathia. Keppinger missed Wednesday night's 4-1 win at Yankee Stadium because of a personal matter. Allen delivered a pinch-hit single during a ninth-inning rally and hustled to take second on the outfield throw. Matt Joyce, who twisted his left ankle while hitting the go-ahead homer in the ninth, said he didn't expect to miss any time. He didn't start Thursday as the Rays went with mostly righty hitters.

Rays' Matt Joyce injured on go-ahead HR swing

Your browser does not support iframes. There aren’t many things that can ruin a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning. With the Yankees and Rays tied 1-1 on Wednesday night, runners on the corners and two out, Rays outfielder Matt Joyce found a way. As you can see from the video above, Joyce hit what turned out to be a game-winning homerun but fell like a ton...

Struggling Moore takes mound for Rays

With series at stake, Rays show fortitude

Rays' Jennings could be back as soon as Wednesday

The Tampa Bay Rays have already had the depth of their lineup severely tested, playing without center fielder B.J. Upton the first two weeks of the season and losing third baseman Evan Longoria for two months. Thus, they felt relieved with word that the knee injury sustained by left fielder Desmond Jennings was minor and should only sideline him a few days. Jennings sustained...

Sabathia, Yanks finally beat Price, Rays

By the time David Price found the right pitches, it was too late for the Tampa Bay Rays. Is Pinch Hitting worth it?

As a baseball writer and a baseball Fan, box scores are a major source of entertainment. And a lot of baseball games and highlights are watched with avid interest. Like many writers who slowly are indoctrinated with the new truths about baseball such as sacrifice bunting stinks and there are no such things as productive outs, these truths call in to question a lot of what is culled...
