PLAYERS: David Price
TEAMS: Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays’ pitcher David Price has been the dominate force in the rotation for the team this season. In fact, many are penciling him in as the potential A.L. Cy Young Award winner. But the Rays have decided to skip his next start due to sorensess in his shoulder.

Price, who is 17-5 with a 2.54 ERA this season, was told by team doctor Koco Eaton that an MRI was needed and did not view situation as it being any risk to him.

Rays’ executive vice president Andrew Friedman would speak on the matter via MLB.com, “It’s not a big deal, and it’s something that we wanted to be aggressive to get in front of to make sure that it wouldn’t become a bigger deal.”

Price’s Saturday start will be taken over by Chris Archer, who has a record of 0-2 with an ERA of 3.86 this season in the majors. Archers was recalled from triple-a Durham.

Prime Nine: Tampa Bay Rays

As recently as a year ago, Andrew Friedman was the resident genius in baseball. This was especially true when it came to building a farm system. It’s a lot easier to build a farm system when you have one of the top picks in the draft every season. Since 2008, they have not picked in the top twenty at any time because of their success on the field. They have been able...

"We're doing a lot of things well," he said Wednesday after Tampa Bay's 6-4 loss to New York. "...
