According to Marc Lancaster of The Tampa Tribune, the Rays designated both Joe Dillon and R.J. Swindle for assignment today. Lancaster explains that Tampa first designated Swindle for assignment to claim Russ Springer off waivers this morning, then had to do the same to Dillon to open an active roster spot. Dillon hit a clean .300-.400-.400 in 35 plate appearances for Tampa, and Swindle didn't make an appearance with the team after being claimed off waivers just yesterday.
